Using traditional applique work and cloth as their paint and canvas, women artisans of a community in Kutch make one-of-a-kind pieces to tell their stories and experiencess. Applique is one of the oldest art forms in the region of Gujarat, India.
This piece is made by Lachhuben. Here, she tells the story of a trip to Australia to learn embroidery.
All fabrics used are locally made, hand-loomed and vegetable dyed. Double-lined, with a slot at the back to allow easy hanging on a rod/pole. One of a kind, only one piece.
