Using traditional applique work and cloth as their paint and canvas, women artisans of a community in Kutch make one-of-a-kind pieces to tell their stories and experiencess. Applique is one of the oldest art forms in the region of Gujarat, India.

 

This piece is made by Ramuben, who illustrates life in her village, Sumrasar Sheikh.

 

All fabrics used are locally made, hand-loomed and vegetable dyed. Double-lined, with a slot at the back to allow easy hanging on a rod/pole. One of a kind, only one piece. 

 

 

*10% of proceeds from this piece will go to a Relief Fund for Kutch artisans affected by Covid.
